American Legion Holladay Post 71
About This Spot
Walking into American Legion Holladay Post 71 feels like stepping into a steadfast neighborhood gathering place where stories hang as warmly as the wooden beams overhead. It’s not about polished perfection here, but about the genuine rhythm of a community unfolding over hearty meals and quiet moments of shared appreciation. The pace is unhurried, inviting you to settle in, soak up the familiar buzz of friendly banter, and let the worries of the day recede.
This Salt Lake City gem balances the grounded charm of a veterans’ organization with the lively, unpretentious heart of a bar and grill. The room hums with an easygoing energy, equal parts comfort and celebration, where longtime locals and newcomers alike find a spot to reconnect — whether that's over a plate piled high with their famously generous steaks or during a midday brunch that feels like a well-kept secret between friends.
Here, the menu is more than just food; it’s a shared experience marked by robust flavors and generous portions that encourage laughter and lingering. The careful seasoning, the way a perfectly cooked steak can seemingly melt with each bite, speaks to a kitchen that knows how to honor both tradition and taste with care. The casual vibe means you’re as likely to see veterans swapping stories as families enjoying a weekend outing, and every guest is welcomed with a spirit of warmth and respect.
The Post’s atmosphere is a subtle blend of reverence and revelry — a place where proud history meets the simple joy of coming together around good food and even better company. It’s a spot that feels alive with memories and the promise of new ones, wrapped in the cozy familiarity of a place that’s seen it all, yet still feels like a fresh discovery.

Just wanted to say thanks to Mike “Tiny” Roberts for continuing his father’s legacy with the Post 71. Daryl would be so proud of his son! This is such a fun place to be for any occasion!! My personal favorite is Saturday night steak night I give you my word that you can’t eat the entire thing!!!!

Guys, please do not read past this review. Take this extremely seriously. I don’t know how to else to say this except that I just had the best streak I have ever had in my entire life. From the seasonings to the way it melted in my mouth. From the 3 lbs of meat to the way the t-bone could cut with a butter knife. These people are so so so kind and you will 100000% not be disappointed. Come here ready to spend some time, enjoy incredible vibes, and have the best steak you will have ever eaten in your life.

Their breakfast is great! They were busier than expected and short staffed, but they were wonderful! Love to all of our Military!

I don’t even know how to describe my experience right now. The vibes of this place are incredible, the people are so wonderful. The t-bone was seasoned beautifully and cooked to perfection. The bread and salad bar are the perfect pair to the experience of the steak. This place is such a gem, I could not recommend it more.

Ok y'all, hear me out. This place isn't the fanciest, but that's what makes it great. They cook up a steak sexier than a summer dress on a windy day. The char makes you want to run out into the street and yell a high pitched "yeah" at the top of your lungs. The menu is so reasonably priced, and the portions so large, you'll struggle not leaving a larger tip than you normally would. Know what you're getting yourself into, Post 71 is full of "regulars", so you may get an up and down look as an outsider, but the staff are as friendly as can be and will make sure you are well taken care of. Sadly, I missed the memo that the André the Giant worthy T-bone steak is only served on Saturdays and requires a two day in advance RSVP. If you want a good solid meal that won't break the bank, come over and support Post 71.

In the heart of gastronomic delight, where flavors dance with unrestrained joy, stands a sanctuary of culinary splendor. This restaurant, a beacon for those who seek not just to eat but to experience the symphony of taste, invites guests into an ambiance whispering of elegance and warmth. Soft beer sign lighting casts a rosy blue glow, while the gentle hum of bar conversations creates a rhythm that soothes the soul. The aroma alone is enough to transport you, each scent a promise of the wonders that await. From the first taste of the Thousand Island dressing on your salad, to the garlic buttery-ness of the bread, to the smoothest cutting T-Bone steak you have ever encountered —flavors are balanced with precision, a harmonious blend that lingers long after the meal is over. Service here is more than just attentive; it is an orchestration of grace and efficiency. From Doug’s kind hello, to Mike’s firm fist bump, every need is anticipated (including the emotional ones), every desire fulfilled with a smile that speaks of genuine hospitality. It is this dedication to the guest's experience that transforms a meal into a memorable occasion. In this restaurant, food is not merely consumed; it is celebrated. Every visit is a journey, every dish a discovery. At Post 71, dining is not just about satisfying hunger; it is about feeding the soul, showcasing what happens when skill, creativity, and a love for the craft converge.

This is one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The staff is amazing and I will be coming back.

Never have I felt more American. The T-bone steak here was 10/10. Cooked over a grill with an open fire you can see at the end of the room. This is a classic biker bar feel with the nicest people. Big bang for your buck. Hidden gem for sure
